i was useing a 14'6 170 with the flex of 19.8. I broke that one and just recently got a new pole which is a 14'6 175 with the flex of 16.5. Is this nearly the same pole? i cant seem tho figure it out. By the way...there from the same brand.

thanks

sounds pretty odd to me. a 3.5 flex difference in a 5lb swing. I would call the manufacturer and double check the marking on the pole.....

and try to 'feel' the difference. sometimes it might feel WAY stiffer and just a little stiffer, i would trust your instinct and see what it 'feels like'....

and if your not sure, have someone give you a tap for the first time, ofcourse only in practice.... ( not to stir up any more 'Tap" controversey)

hope this helpes...

That seems like a big jump in flex to me, but I suppose that it depends on the make and manufacturer to some extent. I'd call the manufacturer and ask them what the flex number range is for their 14'6-175's; that way you'll know whether you've got a papa bear (stiff), mama bear (medium), or baby bear (soft) version of that model (i.e., 14'6-175) and brand (Spirit, Pacer, Altius, Essx, etc.).

For example, Right now I'm jumping on 13-160's and 13-165's, and I have two of each...one that I know is more like the papa bear (17.2 [13-160] and 16.2 [13-165]) and the other that I know is more like the baby bear (17.7 [13-160] and 16.8 [13-165]). Mine are Pacers and Skypoles.

Best of luck with this.
