We got back the tube full of broken poles today. I think one of the worst feelings ever is reaching into a tube and pulling out broken pieces of pole.
Anyone need an 11' 176?

Becca, How did the insurance outcome turn out ??? Did the airlines pay for the damage in full in a timley manner ??? How much hassle did they give "ya".

HAHAHAHAHA.............whew sorry about that.........the last claim I got paid on took 8 months and they depreciated the cost of the poles approx. 30% off of what was paid for them 6 yrs ago...................so for a bag full of 8 - 5.00 carbons the shipper (airborne) paid 1200.00....................This all happened, of course, after they "lost" the poles for 6 - 8 weeks.

Yes it worked out quite nicely, though I think our girl's dad yelled at them quite a bit.
There is a limit of liability of $600ish on each bag for international flights (she went to Australia). Her dad "talked" them into counting it as two bags. The poles broken were 4 13'1 ESSX poles, which cost $310 each. The airline paid her family $1244
I am not sure which airline it was, but I want to find out, because that is pretty cool that they paid up. Sounds like we got lucky!

Yeah I think the stiffest one will be about an 11' 200

I need to find some old slow fat guys, because we may have some money poles for them

the worst isn't when you get home and find your poles are broken, the worst is when they break them on the way to a meet, or you don't ever get them, but lucky for us most vaulters don't mind sharing

My dad might be interested in that pole, he is wanting to get back into pole vaulting after 32 years of retirement!

actually, its better to pull out broken pieces of poles, that if they were just damaged. that way its obvious. sometimes if its not obvious, you might use the pole again, and end up getting hurt in a pole break. doesn't always happen, just tryin to show some positives
