o jeez. 3 foot slide. thats more than ive ever done...
well...You need speed. speed allows pentration. without speed you cant get through the pole. also when i was a younger vaulter, i would sometimes forget to jump when i planted, and relied on my momentum to carry me. these are times when i would slide alot.
even holding lower wont really help if you cant penetrate. get some speed, jump, drive your knee of your trailing leg up...see if you can get through without slipping...you might even stall at the top, but at least you arent slipping...then youll have to work on penetration...
you can try gripping harder. adhesive products on your pole? tape. use gymnastics chaulk. stick um?
i could be so many things, and i dont know a real lot about vaulting...dont even have my own coach cept my brother, so im going on what i have experienced and been taugh, whether right or flawed
good luck. happy vaultin

I replied to your same post on the 'Grip Tape' topic - figured I'd let you know on here though so we can keep it to just one topic.

do close pop-ups and slowly move higher on the pole, but don't hold too high....start at just above your verticle at like 20ft. just go from there...BUT DONT SLIP ON THE PolE!!
Thanks
