hey everyone i was just searching for pole vault stuff on the internet and came across this http://www.trackoutlet.com/product_info ... cts_id/127
has anyone used this before and does it work? i can imagine it would be a great tool, but for over $100 would it just be easier to work out on a pull up bar?
any info/comments would be great, thanks

If poor technique is your goal, this is a great product. The last thing I want to feel when vaulting is a "sinking sensation."

i think the idea of this is to allow the vaulter to feel what its like to stay with the pole and catch the ride, our school has one, and we use it sometimes. I believe it helped, from a high school standpoint, what really helps though is just drilling till your brains fall out. if you have a lot of money to throw around, it would help, if not, work around it.

Unless they have changed their design, I would not buy nor use one. I train with Morry Sanders, and two year ago he had one that he used at his clinics. He showed some new vaulters how to use it. Now, Morry is around 170 in weight, and had no problem. The first student to try it was 150+. He jerked on it up-side down three or four times before it broke. Thankfully he has a hard head, and a strong neck. The bungy cords goes through an eye bolt and then helt together with two hose clamps, and then heat shrink is put over the clamps . The eye bolt is connected to the handle that you hold on to. Morry did contact the company about the problem, so they may have fixed it? But he will not use it any more.

i used one this summer...its an odd training tool because its tough to use the right way. it attempts to give you the idea of "staying back" and feeling the pole unbend. i guess when done right, it can help because it gives you an idea of what to feel for. if you were going to spend some money for a training tool, i recomend the other one...it's on www.everythingtrackandfield.com and i think its roughly $250, but you strap in your ankle, and actually work on getting inverted and twisting off your pole, i think that tool is much more helpful and much more worth spending the money on. good luck

we have one, I broke it partially. I dont really think it helps a whole lot, but I may be using it wrong. I'd say save your money.

those things are crap. don't waste your money.

you should never want to experience a "sinking sensation" during your jump

spend your money on poles, not on worthless junk

We bought the "heavy duty" one and used it twice. The 2nd time we used it one of my kids almost broke his neck when it BROKE and he came down head first. Don't waste your money!
