Carbon Poles

I'm on a carbon skypole right now, 14'6" 185 pounds and it is amazing. I moved up a foot once i got on it. There's a lot of push off the top on it. Fiberglass poles are just to slow and noodley now. I think once you make the switch you never go back. Everyone should try a carbon pole.

if your pole is too "noodley", you need to get on a stiffer pole.

Thats awsome that you were able to move to a carbon and gain a foot. But for the majority of vaulters I really think that carbons are just too fast. Carbons are great poles..... for fast vaulters. I;ve seen slower vaulters lose height making the change.
So, I think the poll is bias.... For a fast vaulter they're a God send. For the rest of us they're about as useful as a bamboo pole.

If you are not timed with the pole no matter if it is CARBON or Just S glass Hybrid you will lose height.
Being timed with the proper Double Pendulum timing is the most important factor!

In the beginning CARBON was Made to return fast as there was so much CARBON in the poles. The more CARBON the STIFFER they were.

Some very early models were so fast not even SUPERMAN Could catch up with the return. As the engineers took a step back they realized that they needs to dampen or slow the pole down so the vaulter did not have to perform a premature pull to keep up with the upward action.
The angle of the carbon as it is rolled into the pole determines how much stiffness of the carbon will affect the return of the pole.

AS newer models were made they used a spiral for one wrap and another laid in as a zero (other words the 2nd glass layer provided the most stiffness available.)
We have found a medium to allow the vaulter to time with the pole rather than have the pole run off and leave you hanging. We use four spiral wraps of Carbon to control the pole more like a spring, maintaining hoop strength and developing stiffness at the same time.

hum, ive read several posts about this and am still sorta confused :confused:

Carbon could make the pole return quicker, but doesnt? Its used for better general pole dynamics?

But Does not return fast if you place the carbon in the pole in a helical wrap orientating the linier glass strands of the uni at different angles.
