which pole to buy

I was vaulting today on my new 14' 156 and 160 Essx poles...I blew through the 156 and went right onto the 160. I vaulted with it a little while and then I started to work on my form, and when I did things right I was penetrating quite a bit with it. I'm 5'10 139lbs, and I'm thinking about buying a 14'7 Essx or UCS/Spirit, but I'm not sure which I would want and what weight/flex to get. Any suggestions?? Also, if anyone has any tips on Essx carbons, please tell me if they would be a better alternative.

Thanks!

depends on how high you are jumping

depends on how high you are jumping

If you are jumping higher than 14' it is time to move to a 445 14'7" if not choose a 165 14 to improve your form.

If you are ready and are jumping more than 14' take the power number on the pole and subtract 2 and that is the next pole to progress to in the next length. this wil be stiffer and will allow a slightly higher grip.
If going to a pole over 160 lbs in a 14'7" you can pay a little more and get a carbon poles that is lighter by 8 oz in our line.

you can read all about the power numbers and how to use it at

i would suggest that you jump at least 14-6 on the 14 foot pole.
14 feet consistantly shows a hint of good form.
I like to be 25-to 30 lbs above the weight of the pole before moving up grip.

This is just my suggestion i can not give you a true answer without seeing your vault.

good luck and fly High
