Beach Vault/ Street Vault Semi-Pro Circuit
I've thought recently about setting up a circuit for post collegate athletes that would encompass street vaults and beach vault that already exsist. Something that would allow developmental vaulters to have a series of meets over the summer time if European travel is not avaliable. What are some ideas that you guys have on the subject. Ideal conditions would be meets that may already have exsisting prise money (Wrightsville and Indy State Fair) and fell where guys could depend on having at least one meet a week. Feel free to respond here or email me. Lon

Yes! You need to talk to Rick Baggett!!
This past summer we had 5 beach/street vaults between WA and OR. 2 of them hosted by Willamette Striders, 2 hosted by Vertical Vault Club, and one hosted by.... the coaches in the tri-cities.
Anyway Rick is talking about linking all the meets together next year, getting sponsorship, having prize money, and making a sweet little circuit out of it.
I went to all 5 this year... soooo much fun
They were July 4th, Tacoma Freedom Fair, Tacoma, WA
July 6th Alki Beach, Seattle, WA
July 20th Richland, WA
July 27th Salem, OR
Aug 3rd Portland, OR

Combine the beach vaults with the elite series of meets that goes on on the west coast.... the Pacific Northwest would be an awesome place for any pole vaulter to be next summer!
I don't know all the meets exactly... Seattle International, Prefontaine in OR, Harry Jerome in BC... I think there are a couple big ones in California. And of course there is the big Beach Vault in Clovis CA.

Clovis
Clovis is the National Championships for the Regional Associations set up in the USA. There are 10 different Regions in America and each one has to have a championship. The winner goes to Clovis. Free.

dont forget about us midwesterners (i know ya wont cause the post meet party dosnt get much better than in Indy). It really needs to follow the idea that Rick had. Meets across the WHOLE nation leading up to a final. Give everyone a shot to be a big shot. The one thing I would add is age groups (increase participation in the event as a whole).

"This side of the world" needs a beach vault in a more northern venue than Wrightsville or Florida. I've been dreaming of the perfect site to host such an event and the ideal time period and have finallized on:
The MTV Beach House at Seaside Heights, NJ!
International TV coverage, a built-in base of young fans and large corporate sponsors.
We'll give them young male hardbodies and ripped chicks on sticks!

That's my baby girl!!
This is a great idea that has needed to happen for a long time! the pole vault community (you all) have exceptional resources and ideas. If everyone came together and invested some energy, it could potentially pay off huge. Espically you younger jumpers who will some day soon be in a position to reap the benifits of such a circut, should be lining up to volunteer whatever resources you can offer. Wheather that's your time, labor, money or sex, um, oppps, not the sex part, it really doesn't matter what you contribute, it could all be helpfull. This process of getting something like this together doesn't happen overnight, but is also dependent on how quickly you want it to happen. Lon's got my vote as "president" of this community. Everybody should batter him with a barrage of support, questions, suggestions, whatever might inspire the progress of the Pro-vault-beach-street-xtreem-show-extraordinare! LB-I'm in brother!
