Re: RIP Alan Launder

Deeply saddened when I heard the news of Coach Launder's passing. I only knew him from afar as a pole vault coach, from his books and videos, and as his ever motivating and challenging personality here on the PVP message boards ... but I understand that he was a great coach of other track events, as...

Re: Fourteen Year Gap in Modern PV Technique in the 1970s?

You may already be aware that it was only after we (Ken Shannon and myself) watched Isaksson at the 1971 Portland Indoor that I switched to a high, weightless pole carry, and I improved my PR by a foot in a single week! I would also argue that a weightless pole carry is NOT a myth. I lived it! In f...

Re: AGENDA 21 (Final draft)

PVDaddy, I appreciate your passion for learning and love of the event. I'll get back to you soon as I just posted on another thread, which has caused me to spend way too much time on this board for one day. Catch up with you soon and happy vaulting.

Re: Insightful

Poor innocent me! Expecting enlightenment and finding only the continual, recirculating repetition of theory. I would just like to see film of the athletes who have been or who are coached by all of the theorists on this site. As my old gran used to say "The proof is always in the pudding"...

Re: AGENDA 21 (Final draft)

IMPORTANT POINTS OF EMPHASIS for AGENDA 21 1) Perfect run up, pole Cary and plant into free take off . We all know the importance of pole Cary, run-up, plant, and free take-off, and that the majority of energy is obtained and transferred to the pole at this time. So of course perfecting these thing...

Re: Fourteen Year Gap in Modern PV Technique in the 1970s?

After reading a few more of the post on this thread, maybe Isaksson is getting enough credit amongst the very best informed folks on this site and in the vault community...but I'll make the vid anyway...at least get the visual comparison out there into the universe.

Re: Fourteen Year Gap in Modern PV Technique in the 1970s?

I just read the thread starter post, then only one or two of the others, so I may be repeating, but... I always understood that Petrov based his model on Warmerdam and Isaksson. Warmerdam is the one you hear him reference all the time, but I've always thought most of his plant (arm specific) and off...

Re: Insightful

Hello all, Just wanted to attempt to clear up one debate about the "negative inversion" term I use in two of my vault videos...which I'm glad to hear a majority of folks have enjoyed and/or appreciated on some level. I'll just say this right off the bat, I don't know of many coaches who ar...
