My experience has been that...

The average developing vaulter adds 50cm per year until age 18. The average 2nd year, 14 year old jumps around 3.00 meters.

There are many instances of vaulters jumping much higher much sooner than this and other instances of vaulters taking much longer to develop. These are gross generalities.

Barto
-didn't jump 3 meters until 4th year, jumped 4.20 in 5th year, and 4.80 in 6th year....22nd year now, back down to 3 meters.

yeah you probably should stick to running because you suck at the vault. lazy people can get away with it in other sports but not pole vaulting. YOUUUUU!!!!!!

I only hit 10' and a half my second season. I'd have to agree for sure there is no average for high school vaulting. I've seen Sophomores clear 13 before, and seniors barely clear 8.
On a different note, great site.
"So what are the odds he's going to hit the bar coming down...?"

"apparently pretty good"

I got to 10' my second year and 11'6 (summer 13') my third year. Dont worry about it and just keep jumping, straight up.
