Nice jump!

And quite the celebration! I don't think I've ever seen someone do a backflip in the pit AND THEN not one but TWO different men run ONTO the pit for hugs!

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but isn't the vaulter supposed to leave the pit before the bar falls down? I mean, what if (in their excitement) one of the men accidentally caused a standard to wiggle, nudging the bar loose before the record was measured?

Good technique. Did hit the box rather abruptly, but recovered nicely.

Congratulations to Carson! 12'08" at 14 is very impressive! Heck, 12'08" in high school is impressive! I like the back flip and I'm guessing a big part of her success is from the excitement and enthusiasm of the two guys that jumped up on the pit with her. There's nothing like the reactions and expressions a young athlete lets out when they PR. That's what motivates me as a coach. I want to see that more often!

Keep it up, Carson and good luck the rest of the season!

Wonder who the old guy that is her coach!!He vaulted too at 70!!! Yes, she does a ground level press and had an easy 6" over and came up a little short!!! Just the way her coach jumped!!! One of 53 HS State Champions ! You know I said all this for one of my best FANS ----Altus

Record attempts are measured before the vault, and not after. I think that is the case in HS, NCAA, and USATF. Help me out if that is not the case.

You are correct. And if the bar falls, it is a miss regardless if the athlete has made it out of the pit or not.

Those "guys " are:

First is Charlie P, her coach. Now all of us have a pretty good example of his coaching and it's results.

Second, is Carson's Dad. He also jumped for Charlie, back in the day (...now he just jumps for JOY, when he is at track meets...!).

This kid is pretty good. This is just the beginning, although she started PV with Charlie in 4th Grade!
