Re: Supplement & Athlete Health

Hello,

This is what Bubba had to say about the Qivana products, back in October.

From: Doug Sparks <polevaulter@msn.com>
Subject: Re: good morning
To: "David Johnston" <davidfjohnston@yahoo.com>
Date: Wednesday, October 7, 2009, 3:24 PM

Hi DJ. Off to Australia today and I jump on Sunday. I have used the product consistently since you gave it to me and the biggest things I see or feel different are that I seem to have more energy, better endurance, but most importantly, less cramping and muscle stiffness. You know how the next day your muscles can kind of have "catches" in them as you go to open up your stride length? I don’t really have those anymore and that is a HUGE plus. If you want you can take this info and write it into something more detailed and I will approve it for your use. The only semi-negative is that the orange stuff doesn’t mix that well but since it tastes really good that doesn’t bother me. LOL!! I'll have email once I arrive on Friday morning. Thanks!! Bubba
Hopefully you will be able to add that these comments came from a World Championship medalist by Tuesday!!

by the way the herbs are not mixed in water.. they are used as a "pixie stick" and are "bitter sweet" like cool aid... ;) ;)

Even though Bubba is a friend of mine.. I want you to know and understand that he used the product without any obligation to me or the company. He is not a part of my team or the Company as a whole. These comments were unsolicited and un-biased. I knew from day one Bubba would be perfect to compare to the results I was getting in Germany.

I know how he trains and some of the issues we all have to address as athletes and/or “masters’ athletes and I knew if it didn’t work for him the product was notwhat it was reported to be.

I’m proud to say it works and has no medical side effects…

Naturopathic physician Marcus Laux recommends natural solutions whose efficacy and safety have been researched and proven in clinical tests

Marcus Laux, ND A naturopathic physician who earned his doctorate from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Dr. Marcus Laux has been clinically trained in acupuncture and homeopathy
He's a naturopath, a HOMEOPATH!!!, and trained in acupuncture! (But not a medical doctor.) Kind of the “full monty” of pseudoscientific fringe health quackeroo. (Doesn’t that raise red flags in your mind?)

But, whatever. “Alternative” medicine as been spectacularly unsuccessful in providing good evidence that their products provide any benefit (and their "FDA disclaimers" indicate they won't be held liable if they are, in fact, ineffective). But the size of the market for their products ($Billions!) does prove one thing: a lot of people have more money than sense. Nothing I can say here will change that.

BTW, next time you see “Dr” Laux, ask him about NICOWater.

In the interests of "balanced reporting", I think this can be argued both ways. Divalent, I realize that you believe in medical doctors ... and NOT in doctors trained in any other remedies except MEDICINE.

Medicines are PRECSCRIPTION DRUGS! Prescription drugs (as well as over-the-counter drugs) are NOT "natural" substances to put into your body. Most drugs have side effects ... BAD ones. DRUGS are big business ... just as you say natural remedies are big business.

You say that "Alternative medicine has been spectacularly unsuccessful in providing good evidence that their products provide any benefit ...", but how good is the track record of drug companies? Have you ever listened to or read all the side-effects of the drugs that are currently being advertised? In fact, why do drug companies advertise?

The only reason I can think of is so that patients can influence their doctors on prescribing name-brands instead of generic drugs ... or better yet NATURAL REMEDIES! Why? For profits! MDs have access to all the latest medical research ... so why do they need their patients to tell them what drugs to prescribe to them?

Given a choice, I will NOT take even an aspirin ... I'll take something more natural ... like a cup of green tea or a soothing whirlpool bath or a nap.

I'm not going to call MDs quakeroos, but I firmly beleive that they prescribe TOO MANY DRUGS for TOO MANY AILMENTS that can be remedied by substances (or procedures) that are more natural ... and less toxic ... to your body.

Divalent, what's in YOUR medicine cabinet? And why do you think you need those DRUGS (other than becuz your MD prescribed them)?

Let's keep it real.

thanks Becca...

this post is the answer/response to this by Divalent...

from Divalent??
I absolutely agree. I went to the website that DJ linked below, and all I can say is that it just *SCREAMS* pseudoscience. If any company tells you that you have to "cleanse" your system of "toxins" (and they have a product to sell to you so you can do it), it is a sure sign they either don't understand how the body works, or (more likely) they are trying to BS you into giving them money (or both). In any event, the company has all the hallmarks of WOO

Qivana’s Products….

Qivana as a business….

Excerpted from The Next Millionaires 2006: by Paul Zane Pilzer

The Next Millionaires explains in detail why the 21st century will be known as the age of the entrepreneur, and how you can stake your claim to being one of these next 10 million millionaires--especially if you are in direct selling, technology, home-based business, product distribution, or an emerging trillion-dollar industry like wellness.

Excerpted from The Wellness Revolution 2002: by Paul Zane Pilzer

The Wellness Revolution was the “shot heard round the world” for the wellness industry. It defined wellness as an industry—linking tens of thousands of disparate service and product suppliers with a single cause. It showed scientists, fitness providers, businesspeople, food manufacturers, doctors, and others focused on disease prevention and anti-aging that they were part of a worldwide revolution—rather than merely lone iconoclasts inside their chosen professions or industries.

"Traditional Chinese medicine" (and "traditional native american medicine", etc) is, for the most part, mythological bunk. Read a book on that 5000 year old traditional chinese medicine and you will learn nothing about how the human body works. Worse, you will learn false things about how the body works. They never discovered the germ theory for the basis of diseases, never discovered the cellular basis for life, etc. Western medical tradition goes back nearly as far, and yet for the most part we've realized that we (and they) had it all wrong. Yes, a fair number of useful drugs have been found in plants around the world, and many pre-modern cultures have stumbled upon local plants that have something useful, and have used them to effectively treat some conditions, but the number of such examples are extremely rare. Ask the chinese if they would trade their recent western-modeled medical system for their old "traditional" one. Indeed, name one medical condition where *you* would prefer to be treated by a traditional chinese shaman

if this is true then why is he US Pharmacopia ( the collection of all drugs developed in the United States) have 96% of all drugs based on natural plants?? It doesn't sound like stumbling to me! The problem with this board is that opinions are often mistaken for facts, and like certain anatomical parts, every one has one!
