Hi everyone,
I beleive there is a rule for high school track that you cannot start trainning for the season before a certain date. Is there such a rule in the NCAA? That you could not, for instance, start vaulting in practice before a certain date before the indoor season? Anyone could comment about that?

Yes, there are NCAA rules that relate to that sort of thing. It varies depending on division and possibly by conference. It's rather complicated and I am not up to date on the latest rules, so I am not going to try to explain because I am sure I would be wrong about half of it.

I think the rules (at least in NCAA) apply to using school equipment (track and weight-room's excluded) for training purposes. I think for D3, you can start having team-practices and using the vault-pits around the 3rd - 4th week of September. -6P

There are a total # of DAYS you can conduct offcial practices each year. I think it varies from division to division but I have only ever been involved at D-I. The coaches have to count back to determine when they can have their first official practice. There is also a limitation on the # of hours a week they can have an athlete involved in practice activities. I do not know the exact # of days, but there is a time during "pre season" where there is a limited (8 hours a week I believe) amount of time.
There are also rules limiting the amount of "technique practice hours" during the pre season.
It is simple yet complicated, typical of the NCAA.

I am not sure what else you want to know? It's up to each school to determine how they apply the rules. Some start vaulting earlier than others.
