South Carolina track assistant resigns
Associated Press
COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina assistant Kevin Brown, who head coach Curtis Frye said was essential to the track team's recent run of successful recruiting the past few years, has resigned to join Vector Sports Management.
Brown was the track and field team's recruiting coordinator, along with coaching the pole vault and helping with sprinters and jumpers.
Brown is heading to the sports agency, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Frye thanked Brown for all he did at South Carolina.
"We have had two No. 1 recruiting classes on the women's side due to Kevin's hard work and probably this year we have signed the No. 1 class on the men's side," Frye said. "With his efforts we won a national championship, finished second on the women's side indoors a couple times and had a top five finish on the men's side."
The South Carolina women's track team won the NCAA championship title in 2002.
Brown said it was difficult to leave because of the "great relationships we have developed with so many people" connected with the university.
"I will always carry a bit of the Gamecock with me," Brown said.
