Check with your state high school association as to what what options are available to you. Sometimes collegiate meets are the only way for top high school vaulters to get good competition, to improve their game. Many colleges will allow it, but some will not consider it. The SC HSL used to not allow athletes to compete with clubs during the year, so to be allowed to compete we used to enter athletes as "Unattached". Now after a soccer family law suit, SC schools can not tell you what to do with you kids when they are not on school time. So both club or unattached entries are now OK.
The key ingredients for a high school athlete to compete in a college meet are:
1. The meet must be an "Open" or "Invitational" meet... non-scoring.
2. The high school can not pay the athletes way to the meet (transportation, food, etc.).
3. A high school uniform can not be worn.
4. The athlete must not use his high school equipment (poles).
5. The athlete must pay their own entry fee.
For years, the high school athletes I have coached have jumped in collegiate meets up and down the east coast. The key is finding places. Unless things change we will have two, possibly three, at South Carolina. The first will be indoors on February 17th. We will have masters vaulters as well.
