Tommy let the Indoor title get away, and he was not happy about it. I don't see another one slipping past him. If he doesn't get 19' thiss weekend it will come at NC's. I would put Eshbach as a 17'8" vault if NC's were anywhere but Texas. He always jumps well with those monster tails. Giovani is due. Scott should be the wild card. Anything can happen with him. Yoo might suprise is us with a 18'4" vault, but my money is on the consistent 18' he's been getting. Russell is due for another 18 footer.

I would say it will be a battle wit Tommy skipper and Eschbach at 5.80 one of them will clear the height. Eshbach in my book has a slight edege having jumped more times at Texas and setting PR's there, but tomy jumped there once this year and could easily contend for a title. Scott could pull together something also, but 5.85 is a question mark.

my picks for division II:
lewis takes the top two spots
but #1 will be mark zilck instead of the usual duane chappel
he will jump 535 for a pr
duane will come in second with 525
ok, so im partial because i jump against them a lot and they are really cool guys, but they really are favored here and mark is ready for a pr after clearing 520 indoors. this, of course is assuming they are both heathy as can be which can be hard sometimes

That was wishful thinking on my part, but Scotts been going from a short run and he's 6-9 so I had to pick him + he has the highest pr (indoor) of the field.

I do not see either Tommy or Jeremy going 5.80. Not yet. If Jeremy is 100% will see. We may see 5.70, and don't count out Eric either.

With his school record-breaking clearance of 18 feet, 8 3/4 inches during the indoor campaign, freshman pole vaulter Tommy Skipper assured himself a trip to the NCAA Championships.

With that in mind, the Sandy native is looking to focus on improving his technique during regionals, rather than worry about coming up with a top five mark.

The freshman will compete at the NCAAs regardless of his performance at regionals after a school record-breaking clearance of 18-8 3/4 during the indoor campaign. Skipper, a Sandy native, already owns the Oregon record in the pole vault.

"I'm just looking to work on my technique, and I know people are getting tired of hearing that and I keep repeating it," Skipper said, "but that's all I'm trying to work on. When it all comes together it's going to be a good day because I've been working hard.

"Coach (Mark) Vanderville has been working hard with us and it may come together this week or it may come together later."

Skipper won the Pac-10 pole vault title 11 days ago with a clearance of 18-3 1/4. While his successes may bring added intensity from his opponents, Skipper said he welcomes the competition.

"I'm hoping those other guys who are jumping against me want to beat me as bad as I want to beat them," Skipper said. "There's some good jumpers in the region and they're fully capable of jumping 18-4 or 18-6, but like I always say, I'm just going to go out and compete as hard as I can for myself and my teammates."

Almost everyone's pick has Jon Takahashi 10th. Have you guys even seen him jump? He jumps at or around 18 feet every meet. Even though his PR is only 5.52 (which is damn good); he is solid. I take him 4th. I'm not saying this just because he vaults for my Alma Mater, I truly believe it.
