Former Mississippi St. decathlete Trey Hardee transfers to Texas
AUSTIN, Texas - Junior Trey Hardee (Birmingham, Ala.) will join The University of Texas men's track and field team for the 2005 season, announced head coach Bubba Thornton on Thursday, Sept. 16. Last year's runner-up in the decathalon at the Outdoor NCAA Championships will compete in that same event for UT in the spring.

"Trey is a tremendous addition to the University," said Thornton.

Hardee has had great success at Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium already in his career, setting three of his personal bests in Austin. He scored 8,041 points while finishing second in the decathlon at the Outdoor NCAA Championships last season, just 130 points behind the winner. He also set personal bests in the 100 meters (10.48) and 110 meter hurdles (14.15) at the NCAA Championships in 2004.

A graduate of Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Ala., Hardee was a four-sport athlete and a two-time Alabama state champion in the pole vault. He switched to the decathlon when he reached Mississippi St. and earned Outdoor All-American honors in both 2003 and 2004.

My teammate Jayne Kristmann transferred to SW Missouri :crying: We didn't have what she wanted to study.

There's always JUCO people... we got two Johnson County girls at Lindenwood, Cheyenne Gentry and Michelle Yonke.

I wish I would have red-shirted my first year out of high school... Me and Ellis wasted a year with a coach that was a dipsh@# and we didnt have a place to jump. We got lucky our second year and got a good coach. It worked out for us fortunately. But I cant wait to see Trey tear up the Hept!!!!!!! Hey Rainbow... Tell Rabbit (Cheyenne) that Banda from Cowley said hey.
