Ray Scotten has a secret.
Even as the top-ranked pole vaulter in the Big 12 Conference, Scotten doesn’t consider himself an expert at his event.
While his numerous first-place finishes beg to differ, Scotten insists he’s still trying to figure it all out.
When he transferred to Nebraska from Southern Illinois after the 2004 season, Scotten admits he didn’t know much about the finer points of pole vaulting.
