conference champions
how many people think that the conference champions rule for the regional system needs to be gotten rid of. there are some people on those track shark lists that really just shouldn't be there.. not to be rude but the marks just aren't really even close. especially in events like the vault where its gonna take up warm up time and meet time.
any thoughts

correct me if i'm wrong, but for every NCAA D1 recognized conference, the winner of each conference is invited to compete at regionals, despite their winning height...

Yea, there is no point for someone to go to regionals that has only jumped like 15 feet. I mean, all they are going to do at regionals is try to kick the bar off. Otherwise without them, it would be a smaller field. Smaller field = more warm up jumps, less waiting during competition, etc.

I say, "No big Deal". And you can quote me on that one. Most of the guys won't go anyways because of what you said. They don't want to go and jump so they can just try to kick the bar off. Would you? Didn't think so. I would feel embarassed a little. Like this one time I went to an all Afro- American funeral with a friend of mine from my high school soccer team. Needless to say I felt like I didn't belong. The people were really nice to me, but you know behind my back they were saying, hey who's this white dude eating my dessert. Nah I'm just kidding, but it was a little awkward, and I think that the conference champions in question would rather just come to learn a little something if anything, and I say let em come.

I'm gonna go the political route and say that I see both sides.
On one hand, the "outsiders" do, in fact, waste the contender's time and what not.
On the other hand, if any of us had the opportunity to vault at the olympic trials, would you? That would be hard to pass up, despite knowing we, at this time, couldn't contend.
Throwin in the extra penny, thats my three cents.

I agree with brian on the pole vault but. but i do think the running events are ok. What i mean is, in the running events you can warm-up anywhere and just show up at the line so the only thing you are doing by running is giving the more talented runners more of a rest. but in the vaul and the highjump and long and triple. where you only have one runway to warm up on, the rule should be changed even though it would not be fair.
