Amanda Haines has submitted a mark of 4.27 (14 foot) for the USATF championships next week. I think that is quite a PR for her. Congrats to Amanda!!!!

CHAGRIN, Ohio - Amanda Haines will have an opportunity to add to her collection of national titles.

The Siena Heights University junior and Adrian High School graduate qualified for the U.S. Outdoor Championship meet in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet at a national qualifier meet Wednesday at Chagrin (Ohio) High School.

The Championships will take place June 23-26 in Carson, Calif.

With her vault, Haines is ranked 16th for the upcoming event. The height is also a new personal record for Haines, beating her former best by nearly nine inches.

"I finally got out of the 13-feet range," Haines said. "It's big not just getting there but the (personal record) is big too."

Haines captured the NAIA National Outdoor title May 28 in Louisville, Ky. with a vault of 12-111/2. Earlier in the year, she placed third at the NAIA Indoor Championships.

"I think I have a good chance, it depends on how I take the competition," Haines said. "I think I can go higher than 14 feet. If I go about 14-6, that could put me in the top six. Everyone is bunched really close."

Last year, Haines captured both the indoor and outdoor NCAA Division III National Championships in the pole vault while at Adrian College. She transferred to Siena Heights prior to the indoor track season this year.

"This is definitely a different level of competition (at nationals)," Haines said. "The most important things is that I learned to focus on what you do, and if you can do that you can place."
