Should wooden runways be allowed to count for out. records?

From the USATF rules:

The maximum allowance for the inclination of runways for jumping events and the Javelin Throw shall not exceed 1:100 laterally.

The maximum allowance for the overall downward inclination in the last 40m (approx 131 feet) of the runway for jumping events ane in the last 20m of rhe runway for the Javelin Throw shall not exceed 1:1000 in the running direction.

I would say that virtually none of the board runways set up anywhere could meet the 1:1000 rule if they were checked unless they were set up by a professional firm with professional equiptment. A 4 foot level on an 8 foot section of runway is never going to meet that tolerance. Records are made to be broken. Rules are made to make the playing field as fair as possible.
