Cali State Meet Predictions

Unread postby vaultguru6 » Wed May 28, 2003 8:25 pm

Why don't those of us living in or from Cali make some state meet predictions? But this time lets keep it a little more friendly, eh? ;)

Mine go as follows:

Guys

1. Graham Bockmiller (Miramonte) 16'0"
Although he's only jumped 15'4" this season, he put big heat on it. He's on 15' poles 40+ pounds over his weight, its just a matter of him stepping up to the plate. Plus I would like him to defend my title, although i'm not giving him the satisfaction of breaking my school record :P .

2. Billy Matheis (Rancho Bernardo) 16'0"
Never seen him jump, but he put up a 16'1" jump last week at sectionals and has been over good bars all year.

3. Zack Miller (Rancho Bernardo) 16'0"
This kids got some jump in him. Its a pity he's only over 15'7" this year. I think he'll come up big when it counts and jump what he should have been jumping all year.

4. Ryan Shuler (Granite Bay) 15'6"
The freshman sesation ties his PR to take fourth. Not bad for a freshman, eh? Next year I say he gets the first win of a potential three-peat.

5. Anthony Wilcher (Chino) 15'6"
Last years crowd favorite after climbing out of the box to take more jumps. No PR for him unless he turns his squirly top into a Huffman role in which case I'd give him 17'.

6. Don Appanaitis (Loyola) 15'0"
Never seen him jump, but i guess he put up a lone 16' in some dual in April. Haven't seen anything since. But he takes the final medal.

There are a whole lotta guys over 15+ not listed, so anything can happen in the lower spots??? Also all marks could be reduced by 6 inches if the infamous Cerritos winds pick up in their face.

Girls

1. Kira Costa (Memorial) 14'0"
Kira comes out big on her UCS SPIRITS and breaks the outdoor nat'l record that was set at this very meet 2 years ago! Gets state meet gold, state meet record, state record, and national record all in one. Not to mention cracking the 14' barrier. Being over 13' more times than can count on one (maybe two?) hands, she is the outright favorite.

2. Monica Pacas (Atascadero) 12-6
As usual the Atascardero girls are up and over some big bars, but i just don't see any PR's in the woodwork for them.

3. Kacey Lundgren (Atascadero) 12-6
I don't know anything about the girls other than kira, i'm just pulling this all out of my a**.

4. Elizabeth Woepsi (Mater Dei) 12-6
Elizabeth gets her first significant PR since her 12' freshman year 2 years ago. And she does it at the right time. I wish I had a pit in my back yard....... :(

5. Like I know anything about any other girls.

Don't criticize my predictions unless you make some of your own :P .
