The Belton boys got their day started in the pole vault. Cory Altenberg, who cleared 15 feet to win last week at the Temple Relays, went seven inches higher to claim his second gold medal in as many meets.
Altenberg didn’t make his first vault until the bar reached 14 feet, by which time only he and a Georgetown vaulter remained. After clearing 15-7, Altenberg made three unsuccessful attempts in a gusting south wind at 16-1.
