WE ARE SORRY TO ANNOUNCE THE CLINIC HAS BEEN CANCELLED THIS WEEKEND AS OF 3/20/2012.
Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines, NC will host it's first pole vault clinic on 24 March 2012 from 9am-3pm weather permitting. Fees can be paid the day of the event by check or cash.
Cost is $75 per child and will include lunch. All proceeds benefit the track and field program of Pinecrest High School.
Novice jumpers would be exposed to several drills to help their technique and would leave with a basic understanding of pole carry, handhold, run up to include steps from their 3, 4, and 5 step, and basic straight pole jumping. This would allow them to safely compete at least on a novice level. They will be sent home with their handhold and steps to give to their coaches.
Intermediate and Advanced Jumpers will confirm the above skills from longer run ups and be exposed to drills that promote a better plant, inversion, jumping over their hands, and clearing a crossbar.
Athletes: Please bring your poles, tape, spikes, a water bottle, and running shoes.
The Southern Pines/Pinehurst area is known for it's incredible golf and Pinehurst #2 the home of the 2014 US Men's and Women's Open. Parents can bring their children, play a round of golf or visit some of the renowned shopping and dining in the immediate area. A short drive away is North Carolina's pottery highway or Fayetteville, the home to Ft. Bragg and the Airborne and Special Operations Museum.
