PreRaceJitters.com Interview: Brad Walker, Superstar

Unread postby KirkB » Sun Feb 01, 2009 3:48 am

Hooker's the first one out of the blocks this indoor season, and was close to a WR, but he may not be the only vaulter attempting (or clearing!) a WR this year!

It should be an interesting year with Walker, Hooker, and Lukyanenko all vying for the WR and World Championships ...

PRJ: What is next for you to achieve this season? Can you talk about how your training is progressing and share your goals for 2009?

BW: Easiest question so far. World Record. Each year past college, I have just wanted to get better, first was my 5.90 jump in 05’, then in 06’ I jumped the big 6.00 meters. Last year I progressed to the AR of 6.04. 6.06 would be second all-time to Bubka [Sergey], right now I sit at fourth, but 6.06 is just a small stepping stone to the WR and that I what my sights are set on. As long as I am approaching my goal of 6.16, being ready for the World Champs should fall right into place. And believe me when I say, I would like to repeat as World Champ.

There's much more to this interview, so be sure to read it entirely. The above quote is just a snippet.
