I believe that Derek actually did take his third attempt at 5.70, then experienced calf cramps and was unable to participate in a jump-off, so Mark Hollis was declared the winner.

He did not. Pass is correct. unable to jump. basically, forfeit attempt. The rule is that, you must jump. Mark and Derek looked good. Renaud was clearly having issues out there but cleared 5.50 big. Look out for his next result in Germany in the upcoming week.

I saw and spoke with Derek today as he got out of the cab at the hotel in Reno as he has college kids to coach today. He said this calf thing has been coming on for the past couple of weeks as he tries to adapt to a new spike. He says he'll seek advice and then rehab it a couple of weeks and go back to the other shoes. He still had a pretty visable limp. Bubba
