Yelena Isinbayeva's 4.87m in winning the Norwich Union GP vault at Gatehead
yesterday betters the official world record held by Svetlana Feofanova
(4.86i) and the world outdoor best (4.83m) set earlier this month by Stacy
Dragila. Also getting mighty close to the sixteen-foot barrier--15'11 1/2".
15:15 - POLE VAULT Women - Final OFFICIAL RESULTS
1 ISINBAYEVA Yelena RUS 4.87
2 FEOFANOVA Svetlana RUS 4.70
3 ROGOWSKA Anna POL 4.60
4 BALAKHONOVA Anzhela UKR 4.40
Sorry, I wrote that Feofanova held the world record. The 4.86i was, in
fact, Isinbayeva's own, set at Budapest on March 6.
Women will be 16' pretty soon

KYLE ELLIS wrote:why wouldnt you go up one more centimeter to make it 16ft?
besides the obvious: $$$$$$$$$
it is easier to clear 487 than 488 so it is an easier shot at a record plus perhaps the 16 foot barrier to someone not from the united states..........
anyone know what she attempted after 487 or did she just call it a day
