Silver medalist is OAA guest speaker
Toby Stevenson, the charismatic Olympic silver medalist in the pole vault, will be the guest speaker at the 38th annual Outstanding Athlete Award (OAA) Dinner on Wednesday at the SOS Club. Stanislaus County's top athletes of 2004 will be recognized that night. Stevenson, the 2004 U.S. indoor champion, got the track and field world's attention last May at the Coca-Cola Modesto Relays when he cleared 19 feet, 8¼ inches, at that point the best jump in the world since 2001. Social hour starts at 6 p.m., with the dinner to follow at 7 p.m. Awards will follow. Cost is $18 for adults and $10 for children and students with current ID. For more information, call 578-5801.
