Those are actually the new LJ spike, which in my opinion are better for the PV anyway.

i dont know about that...talked to a rep from nike on anticipation of the new spikes...which will be availible in october...those are the new lj, there are a new pair of the older style, yet revamped, tj/pv and a seperate vault shoe (that dragila, skipper, and most recently miles wear) which will be available in winter '05...but i could be wrong.

i was just going off of what i have seen in magazines so far. i'm no rep or anything. it's not like it really matters what they are called anyway. people will wear what they are going to wear.

Hes shown an ability to perform at championship meets but obviously couldn't do it in Athens. How many people picked Gibilisco last year?

What made you change your post?

Anyway, those are all good points, but he has had alot of trouble with injuries over the past 3 seasons. That should be taken into consideration when picking favorites.

I agree with you that he is a big meet performer--very talented, indeed. As such, I would think he would do well, but I still wouldn't have picked him for gold.

My main disagreement with that pick is that you can't really go on what he vaulted 3 years ago. It is a much more accurate to base your predictions on how he is vaulting this year. If you want to be more thorough, perhaps this year and last year. The point is, for three straight years, Markov has consistently been outvaulted by other vaulters in this competition, and that is why I question SI's choice. Of course, this is all a moot point now, because he went out in the prelims.
