Pierson strives to realize Olympic dream

Adam Pierson is a guy with a dream.
He’s new to New Braunfels, having come here to prepare for something not too many folks would consider trying — a spot in this year’s Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
Pierson, 26, specializes in the pole vault. He’s trying to become one of 24 athletes nationwide invited to the Olympic Trials, which will be held in Oregon in late June. The Illinois transplant arrived here this spring, and has since been training towards his goal.
“I couldn’t consider anyone training for the Olympics wanting to be in a big city environment. The warm weather is a part of it, that and the people here,â€
