I know the women don't go for a few more hours, but here's how things are now. Looks like board member Trey Hardee won his heat in the decathlon in 10.55!

Day 6: Decathlon day starts

It's 87 degrees, 37 percent humidity, with wind from the southwest at 6 mph. Low wispy clouds are just to the north. Relatively comfortable.

Women's pole vault qualifying
Stacy Dragila and 21 others warm up on two pits. Sacramento's 2000 Trials was scene for a Dragila world record. San Diegans in event include Rancho Bernardo High's Tracy O'Hara and Lesa Kubishta (Point Loma Nazarene alum). Half-dozen are passing opening height of 13-5 1/4 (4.10) Kubishta misses second try badly. Kubishta has close effort in third try -- but misses. It's 87 degrees, but shade over stadium makes it very comfortable at 7:17 p.m.

Women's vault: O'Hara in final
Tracy O'Hara misses first try at 13-9 1/4 (4.20), then makes height. Twelve eventually get over this height, with several passing, including Dragila. She and Jillian Schwartz clear 13-11 1/4 on first try, so 14 will jump in Sunday's finals.
