Men Qualifying for World Championships

The list that follows shows the vaulters regarded by the IAAF as the top qualifiers for the World Championships that begin in Helsinki on August 6. Each country can enter up to three vaulters who have met the "A" standard. If no vaulter for a country has met the "A" standard, the country can enter one vaulter who has met the "B" standard.

A national federation may choose to substitute a different vaulter who has met the "A" standard for one who has a better qualifying height. For example, USA traditionally designates as their entries the three athletes who place highest in their national championships among those who have attained the "A" standard. In this instance, that would mean replacing Tim Mack, who only placed seventh in the USA Championships, with second-place finisher Nick Hysong, although Hysong's best height during the 2005 outdoor season is only 5.70m.
