WC women qualifiers
"You have some interesting coaching theories that seem to have little potential."
Here the low down from my first world championhips.
Very strong cross winds during warm ups. All women were having difficulties and running through a lot. I was worried about the US women especially Stacey. She did not look good all day despite the height.
As the competition went on the confidence of the competitors grew and the wind began to gust only. Sometimes nothing and sometimes pretty strong.
Stacey Dragilla was fortunate at 4.30 blowing through big time. At 4.40 she was purely lucky as the bar bounced high but stayed. At 4.45 she didn't swing on the first and ran through on the second. Her third was not that close.
Tracey Ohara was the most consistent during the warm ups and jumps up to 4.45. She was very close on her 3rd.
Jillian Swartz struggled early but then got on a roll and had a big jump over 4.45. She handled the later jumps really well.
Isinbayeva looked really crappy in warm ups only leaving the ground once. If this is what she always does I do not know but I was surprised that she waited to 4.40 because the weather looked like it would get worse. Anyway she destroyed 4.40 and 4.45 by 3 feet each time. I really wish that I had tickets for the final but it is the night of the javelin and I suspet that the scalped price will be extreme.
Pyrek, Polnova, Rogowska, Gao and Ellis got on a roll and made 4.45 almost right after one another. Pyrek and Rogowska looking the best. Boslak from France had a great day until 4.45. Grigoriava looked good after such a long struggle.
I hope that gives you an idea as to the atmosphere. It is no play by play lake Gus or Becka but it should do.
