Hyper-extended elbows

Unread postby Fo_Sheezy » Thu Jul 17, 2003 9:04 am

Both of my elbows are hyper extended...not because of injury, but thats the way they are. And they are getting worse, like what was once about a 5 degree extension, is now about 7 degrees...is this going to affect my pole vault? And do I suck because of my elbows??
Hey is that a pole in your hand or are you just happy to see me?

my elbows hyperextend...my knees do too...hasn't presented any problems for me...now, in gymnastics...i had to be careful not to lock my elbows out...could have possibly snapped them backwardif i did that while tumbling >.< but i dont see why you should have any problems with vaulting cuz of it...

For women the normal range of hyper extention is up to 10 degrees if there is no history of recent trauma and is equal on both sides (Otrhopedic and physical Assessment 3rd ed. 1997 -David Magee)

So I'm not sure how or who measured your Range of motion. However It is probably normal and will not cause any problems in vaulting.
