Well yeah, if you know you need to jump up then your body knows it needs to slightly go down before going back up.

After checking out spencer changs response in the "pre-jump vs free take off" its clear that there is a penultimate and the COG does go down slightly, but much less markedly than in the long jump. It is much more like triple. My apologies for ignorance in regards to the penultimate, tho.
