wrist bruises
wrist bruises
just curious as to what people do to avoid those nasty wrist bruises from breakin in your bottom arm during the swing up in vault and during pop-up drills. any suggestions? i think ill probably get some of those sweat bands, they seem to maybe work.... well see.
The best thing that I've discovered is a football forearm pad made by a company called "Adams". I buy the Youth Size Small and that's pefect for me (I'm a 160 lb. grown man, if that helps you judge what size might work for you). I've done searches for the Adams forearm pads on the net, and found them pretty cheap that way. These have a nice close fitting elastic and much better padding than conventiaonal wrist bands.

My daughter has enjoyed good success with wrist guards from a gymnastics equipment company named Ten-0. You can order online from their website at www.ten-O.com. She hasn't been bothered by wrist bruises since she started wearing them.

if those are what i'm thinking of...those would work great...its about 1/4 inch rubber-like stuff (forget the proper name..lol) about the size of a double wristband....pain in the butt to get on and off, though, specially if you get sweaty....i used those when i was in gymnastics...

i don't even bruise any more when i don't tape or pad my wrist. I rip the skin. i've had the scar get up to about 1 inch by 1 inch......nasty. Once at that point there was no way to heal it til i stopped jumping. Jumped with it like that for a month til the end of the season. It was actually the best i'd ever jumped! Just hurt like hell on the first jump of the day when that scab would come ripping off.
