European Athletics has announced announce that Russian pole vault queen Yelena Isinbayeva and Polish 800m star Adam Kszczot have been voted as the European Athletes of the Month for February.

Isinbayeva, 29, set an indoor world record of 5.01m at the XL Galan indoor meeting in Stockholm on 23 February. The double Olympic champion beat her own record of 5.00m that she had set in the Ukrainian city of Donetsk in February 2009 for her 28th world record, indoors or outdoors, 13 of which have come under cover.

In the men’s poll, current European pole vault champion, indoors and outdoors, Renaud Lavillenie cleared a world-leading height of 5.93m in the French town of Nevers on 18 February and was voted second. He subsequently improved the world-leading jump to 5.95m in March.
