World, Olympic and European Pole Vault Champion, Yelena Isinbayeva arrived in Russia today to spend some time in Moscow followed by her home town of Volgograd.

To the waiting Russian media she said she would evaluate her unblemished season with a ‘9' on a 10-point scale. The driven Russian has yet again proved herself to be head, shoulders and 3cm above the competition (4.88m jump from Jennifer Stuczynski, USA is the closest anyone has come to the 11-time World Record holder this year) with a new World Indoor record, 19 unchallenged wins and another World Championship gold to add to her ever growing medal collection.

Isinbayeva will start her preparation for the 2008 indoor season on November 12th in Monte Carlo, details of her competition schedule are not yet known but she has confirmed that she plans to defend her title at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain.

It will be interesting to see which elites go after the indoor season and which ones just train for outdoor and the Olympics.

Jenn has always been a strong performer indoors but struggled late in the summer. I wonder if the Suhr Sports crew will take a later start to the season to try and get her ready for Beijing.

Just FYI, I just posted my translation of her interview with Andrey Mitkov here on the "Isi Updates" thread.

This was after the qualification round on day #2, and they were watching some sprint (maybe one of the men's 100 semifinals) on the TV.

Man: How high could you vault if you could sprint like that? Twenty feet, eh?
Yelena: Yeah ... or nothing.
Man: Or nothing, yeah. You'd be through the box.
Yelena: Yes.
