Hi all,

So the exciting news is that my athlete broke the Kenyan national record in the women's pole vault! Yay right?! Pretty exciting, especially since she did it on a pole much much too small for her. Also, the paper printed this adorable picture of Caroline after she made the height - pure bliss.

Most entertaining bit though, is the newspaper article which covered the story. I said absolutely none of the quotes... which is just awesome, cause it in turn makes me look absolutely brilliant (right....). Oh, and apparently i'm Algerian (keep in mind this is the journalist who wrote the article on me a few months ago). Check it out.....

When asked if Caroline could make the 2012 London games with a vault of 3.15m (10'4" or so), I said we were focusing on potentially qualifying for the 2016 Games with the hopes of participating and winning the African Championships in the next few years (I was being optimistic). I also mentioned that her record is a reflection of her dedication and discipline this past year. Oh, and don't even get me started about the pole issue.

This happens to be my favorite quote:

“The ones we are having are too short for the lanky Kenyan athletes. I believe Cherotich can become an African champion before the 2016 Olympics,” said Leila.

The "lanky" bit kind of hysterical dont u think??? And a 3.80m qualifying height - London here i come! :)

Anyway, felt the need to share the amazingness / optimism (?) of sports coverage here :).
