Lavilenie uses triple jump spikes
After careful analysis of our current world champion it is clear that he uses triple jump spikes. They appear to be Nike TJ2 or TJ3's. anyone else notice this....... Or care? Just seemed interesting.

Re: Lavilenie uses triple jump spikes
Lots of vaulters use TJ spike because of the heel padding and stability. I've had to Achilles surgeries so I absolutely have to.

Ahh Bubba the voice of reason. Thanks , I am switching to TJ spikes myself for injury prevention and hopefully a less uncomfortable take off. Thanks for the confirmation I have been leaning that direction for a while.

Re: Lavilenie uses triple jump spikes
Sure! They also tend to have a slightly wider heel so you don't roll over at take off. Worth a try!

Always recommend them here for just those reasons.

Re: Lavilenie uses triple jump spikes
just curious as to what you guys think about the Nike PV 2.. im a high school vaulter and i've always had foot/ankle problems (morton's neuroma, sprained ankles)
i do a lot of ankle strengthening exercises and sometimes when i vault my ankles will hurt really bad. i wear the PV 2 with good orthopedics inside them, but they have a good heel on them
just wondering what y'all thought of them

Re: Lavilenie uses triple jump spikes
I have jumped in them for the last 2 years. Not a bad jump shoe but as stated in the beginning of the post not as supportive as TJ spikes. So they are fine shoes to be sure but more support and stability is a definite plus. I am switching to TJ spikes for those reasons not because PV 2's are bad shoes. Hope this helps!

Re: Lavilenie uses triple jump spikes
On the team I coach for:
Our Decathlete long jumps and pole vaults in triple jump spikes
One of our pole vaulters pole vaults in long jump spikes
One of our triple jumpers likes pole vault spikes
One of our pole vaulters just PRd wearing her 200-400 spikes.
All comes down to what you are most comfortable in. The girl vaulter raised her season best by one foot this weekend by simply wearing her sprint spikes instead of pole vault spikes. We noticed she kept landing hill-toe or really flat footed at the end of her vault run, so she put on her sprint spikes and was able to turn her feet over.
The triple jumps spike does offer a good mix of the long jump and PV2 though because it keeps you on the ball of your foot better than the PV2 but has extra heel cushion just in case you mess up hit your heel.
