There is a definite "hang" (passive) in Lavillenie's vaults, and then not necessarily a "tuck", but a definite delayed "shoot" of his trail leg, whereas Otto has much more of a continuous chain of motion from swing to extension.

Holzdeppe also closer to the classic Petrov Model than Lavillenie.

Surprising that Holzdeppe wore shades. I could never do that while vaulting - too hard to focus on getting the tip of the pole into the box.

In response to Kirk's post: I would say that Lavillenie has a very brief passive swing after take off. Once his take off leg reaches a position roughly aligned with the pole axis he begins a long and prounced tuckinging action, rotating his hips upward. At the completion of his rock-back, with his hips rotated up and roughly level with his shoulders, he bends his lead leg back and outside of his top arm. From this position Lavillenie shoots vertically. If there is an "anti" Petrov/Bubka vaulter, Lavillenie is it. Nobody does a better job of exploiting the bend and recoil of the pole to shoot up and over the bar.
Otto and Holzdeppe are much more in the Petov/Bubka mold ( with the exception that Otto takes off under ). Like Bubka, they both depend more on an active swing and vertical extention to propell them up and over the bar.
