Yes she is. I would call those token efforts at best at 5.05. If she really wanted to PR she would have gone for 4.95 or 5.00 meters.

Maybe ur right, but sometimes i just raise the bar up to 15, because i could get lucky and get it. I dunno, it just dosn't seem as blatent as sergey.

agreed. I would have been extremely surprised if she actually jumped 5.05 and I think she would have surprised herself, as I think this was more of an appeasement type move for the crowd and everyone that has been following her onslaught of world records.

She's had probably at least 10 meets where she set the WR by one cm and then did not attempt another height.

I bet one of her sponsors offered her a bonus if she jumped 5 meters +.

Isinbayeva Sets Indoor Pole Vault Record

LIEVIN, France - Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia broke her own indoor pole vault record Saturday, clearing 16 feet, 1/2 inch at the Lievin meet.

Isinbayeva cleared the height on her first attempt, setting a world record for the 12th time in her career. She then asked for the bar to be raised to 16 feet, 6 3/4 inches, but failed to it.

On Feb. 18, Isinbayeva became the first woman to clear 16 feet indoors when she did it at the Norwich Union Grand Prix. She set the outdoor world record in Athens last August when she won the Olympic title with a mark of 16-1 1/4 .

The 22-year-old has set three indoor world records this season.

Isinbayeva claims world record hat-trick

Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva set a world women's indoor pole vault record for the third time within two weeks on Saturday. Isinbayeva, who set the outdoor world record at 4.92 metres in Brussels last September, vaulted 4.89 metres on her first attempt at the Lievin indoor meeting.

She beat her previous mark of 4.88 metres set eight days ago in Birmingham.

Isinbayeva, who has been tipped by the great Sergei Bubka to become the first woman to clear the five metres barrier, then attempted 5.05 but failed.

Lets think about somehting here... pro athletes in track and field make little money unless they win or set records. In order to make money the smart thing to do is raise the bar millimeters at a time. That way you have enough money to go to the next meet! Come on guys cut em some slack! You know you would do the same thing if you were in their shoes.

A true athlete cares about the GAME(event) not the money, anyone who can set a world record is sponsored, and most likely there sponsoners pay for them. I would give an arm and a leg to be able to jump like the elites (though if i did i couldn't jump anymore.) Behind every great athlete are tons of struggling ones. Don't take offense in this please
