NEW PROGRAM in 2005!!! BC Athletics Pole Vault Regional Training Group Opportunity & Training Camp

BC Athletics is proud to announce an exclusive opportunity for the development of the Pole Vault Event Group at Swangard Stadium.

An initiative of the Team BC - Canada Summer Games Development Program, BC Athletics will present intermediate to advanced pole vault training sessions over the next 6 weeks under the supervision of recognized and accredited coach - Curt Heywood. Curt is a four-time Canadian National Champion and Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist in the Pole Vault.

Athletes (14 years of age and older that have experience in vaulting) and coaches are invited to come out to Swangard Stadium. Sessions will commence on Monday, May 23, 2005 and run on consecutive Monday evenings for 5 weeks. All sessions start at 6:00pm and go to 8:00pm at Swangard Stadium. Each drop-in session for an athlete is $10 per person or $30 for all 5 sessions paid in advance. Registration is preferred in advance.

Please note: All participants will be required to have a current 2005 BC Athletics athlete membership, or they can purchase a day of event membership with their drop-in fee for a total cost of $13 per session or $45 for all 5 sessions paid in advance.

The planning, development and operation of this training environment will encompass a guiding philosophy and will operate on principles that are:

Respectful of existing coach/athlete coaching arrangements and club/school affiliations;
Non-threatening to coaches, athletes and clubs;
Transparent in development, design, operation, delivery and evaluation;
A partner in the development of athletes, coaches, officials and competitions.
The proposed structure of this development program reflects the need to develop the power/speed events in athletics and provide a profile for the Pole Vault event group.
