Wow! But what can Isinbayeva do as an encore to Crystal Palace? Or is this the meet for Rogowska to fulfill someone's prediction on the other thread that she will be the next to do five meters? Anyway, both men's and women's vaults should be great events.

And when was the last time a major international meet held men's and women's vaults on the same day?

Stockholm Starting Lists

(By the way, the meet is Tuesday, July 26.)

If you're thinking of betting your week's pay on the first six places, it might be well to recognize that the height following the athlete's name on the DN Galen website and reproduced above is the vaulter's personal best, not seasonal best, except when the two figures coincide. Seasonal bests, as I have them are--

Mack USA 5.85
Yurchenko UKR 5.72
Börgeling GER 5.77
Lobinger GER 582
Walker USA 5.90
Fritz SWE 5.40
Jeng SWE 5.55
Hooker AUS 5.87
Hysong USA 5.70
Pavlov RUS 5.80
Gibilisco ITA 5.80
Kristiansson SWE 5.85

Elisdottír ISL 4.50
Pyrek POL 4.70
Belin SWE 4.45
Schwartz USA 4.55
Isinbayeva RUS 5.00
Balakhonova UKR 4.40
Polnova RUS 4.50
Persson SWE 4.31
Rogowska POL 4.80
O'Hara USA 4.60
Grigorieva AUS 4.47

Sorry for any mistakes caused by the hurry: Trying to keep ahead of Becca in posting new data is sheer murder.

Gatlin, Wariner aim for diamonds
Posted: Monday July 25, 2005 4:43PM; Updated: Monday July 25, 2005 4:43PM

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) -- Before going for gold at the world championships in two weeks, Olympic champions Justin Gatlin, Yelena Isinbayeva, Jeremy Wariner and others will be trying to win a diamond.

Each meet record at Tuesday's DN Galan is worth a 1-carat diamond valued at $10,000. Isinbayeva, who broke the women's pole vault record for the 17th time in her career last Friday in London, seems the best shot.

The meet record of 15 feet, 8½ inches was set in 2002 by Svetlana Feofanova, a Russian compatriot of Isinbayeva who is not competing at the meet this year. Isinbayeva has broken the world record eight times in her last 10 meets, including a clearance of 16-4¾ last Friday.

The last two Olympic champions, Americans Nick Hysong and Tim Mack, are entered in the men's pole vault.

I saw Jeng clear 560m in Jockgrim. He looked like he could get the 575m qualifying mark he may need for worlds!
