Kristiansson is not a good role model
Pole vaulter screams gender words in front of a five-year-old
Swear words, sexual (like words which point to a specific genitial organ) words and an uncontrollable temperment from pole vault-star Patrik Kristiansson has irritated parents in his home club.
"We are going to try to get better," says coach Miro Zalar.
It was in a letter to the editor in Karlskrona that Elisabeth and Magnus Niklasson gave "dagens ris" (to mean like an official criticism in open and in the public for others to either agree or disagree) to the known jumper.
"We can not leave it alone to react over his behaviour," explains Magnus. "He should be a good role model for our children - which he is not when he screams sex words and swear words, throw poles and kick the vault uprights.
Mental training.
"He should have received mental training on the level at which that he finds himself.
At Sunnahallen in Karlskrona there are 5-year-olds and teenagers who train at the same time as the stars. The Niklassons have an 11-year-old daughter who trains at the same time as Patrik Kristiansson.
"It is clear that the younger ones look up to Patrik responding and marveling. But is not that which we will that they should follow after. He as a star has a responsibility for the younger.
Several times Magnus Niklasson has reacted to Patriks word use both when he vaulted and when he played innebandy afterwards.
"He often acts unbelievably badly", he establishes. "And his coach is right there and hears everything - without saying anything about it."
Both Patrik Kristiansson and Miro Zalar are at a trainingcamp in Italy.
Apologizes
"We have discussed this here today, and are going to try to do better", says Miro Zalar. "Naturally it is not appropriate to use sexual words and swear words."
"Patrik apologizes to everyone who has reacted."
"He wants to be a good role model for the youth. And he will be now do his best to be one," says Miro Zalar.
