A very good golf teacher (Butch Harmon and Hank Haney) charges $500.00 an hour and has a waiting list. Having Altius with his expertise come to a camp for $175.00 for students and $125.00 for coaches (Tax write off?) for three days is very reasonable. To become great in a sport there needs to be an investment. Just ask Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

Becca when you graduate from college, because of your talents with computers, websites, communication and overall excellent organization skills your expertise will be in demand.

I guess I will have to see if there are any tickets from Spokane to Chicago this summer! Jeez... lol

Paul and Alan, I hope you did not take this as an attack on your camp directly. I don't like to see this trend of high prices for coaches in any camp.

Is this particular camp worth $125 for coaches? Yes! It looks like it will be a wonderful camp. Alan will provide a wealth of knowledge for a coach at any level.

$175 for vaulters is a BARGAIN for a 3 day camp like this. In the future you may want to raise the price a bit for the vaulters and lower it for the coaches.

Some coaches' schools will pay for them to attend the clinic, as it is coaching education. If that is the case, then $125 is no problem for them.

But I would imagine that most coaches end up paying for this stuff out of pocket. If you are a coach that works a full-time job and makes a decent living, $125 is probably not that bad. If you're a coach that is a broke college student like me, $125 would be cost-prohibitive.

Consider offering a discount for coaches for the more kids they bring. Also consider offering coach scholarships. Coaches can be of great help with set up and tear down of pits, registration, or whatever.

Compare a camp with 50 kids and 20 coaches versus a camp of 50 kids and 0 coaches. The 20 coaches may add a little bit of time with additional questions, and a little bit of cost with any printed materials you give out and food you might serve, but that's it! At all the camps I have been to, the coaches mostly just observe the action. They tend to be helpful if equipment needs to be moved, bars need to be set, etc.
