what does it mean by mid point at 43? sorry im not sure what that means,,
and btw, today my coach made me change to a 14'3 pole that is 10lbs over my weight,, while holding at around 13' my coach did the tap and i flew over my pr today,, it was fun,,, my coach said i dont need a tap as long as i keep my speed up,,, i had trouble with keeping my speed up,,,
what my coach told me to do felt like it was against everything in this forum,,, The biggest lesson i got from this forum was to max out on the smaller poles first,, but perhaps i already did,,,
How do you get more of the "Good Days" ?

I completely agree with ladyvolspvcoach. The use of the mid chart is the way to go. The runback is a terrible idea. Not only is it inaccurate, but it is frustrating for all others on the runway at the time. In fact, if you consider the fact that in the original post, Haverford123's step was only under by a foot, there is really very little adjustment to be done. A runback might be more useful when you have no clue where to start from.
BTW, the 43' mid mark is the distance that a left foot (for right-handed pole vaulters) should strike the ground, when measured from the top of the back of the box. After this mark, you have 6 steps (3 lefts) until takeoff.

powervaulter is right, but it's a little confusing when you are trying to turn that info into action. Here's what you do. Put a tape measure down along the side of the track that measures distances from the back of the top of the box. Stand with your back to the pit and your left toe on 43'. Then run away from the pit and have some one catch your lefts. The number of lefts depends on the number of lefts you run in total during a normal vault. As I described above.
