Last year My wife and I had a decision to make, we could finish grad school in ca and keep trying to vault at a place where it was difficult to get onto the track and getting coaching was rare or find a place to train full time and put school and our careers on hold for a couple more years. So I sent Dean Starkey a Facebook message and asked if we could come train with him. He said yes, so we moved out to Queen Creek Arizona to train with his club AZPVA.
It turned out to be a great decision. I have always had great coaches but being able to be in a situation where I can train full time without worrying about when I can use the facility, or how to set the camera up to coach myself, or having my wife and I coach each other will trying to vault and to have a coach as talented as Dean and his wife Jill Has been amazing. My wife (Annie) Jumped 12'2 in 2012 her PR was 12'8 from 2010 and it looked like she was going to quit competing, but this year she was able to PR by one foot two inches and jumped 13'10". I did not have quite as good of a year, however from 2006 the first time I jumped 17" through 2012 I jumped over 17' 14 times, this year I jumped over 17' 14 times and came within an inch of my pr set in 2009. Here is a couple video's of mine and Annie's season from this year. I am super exited to start my next year of training on Monday 08/05 and see what next season brings.

Also if you're ever in Arizona it's worth it to contact Dean or Jill Starkey for a drop in session.
