video of a me PRing at 10'6"

Age: 16
Grade: Sophomore
How long you have been jumping: 2nd season
What pole you are on (length and weight rating): 13' 140 lb Pacer FX, flex number 21
How high you are gripping: 11'10"
What bar(s) you are attempting in the video: 9'0" - 11'0"

I am 5'7" and 132 lbs running from 6 lefts on all these vaults.

This is some video of me vaulting at a recent meet. I PRed at this meet at a height of 10'6" despite the fact that we were running into the wind. Any criticism and comments are welcome.

Some things that became really obvious to me after watching the videos was that 1) my bottom arm is never straight at the plant and 2) I only swing to a sitting position. I worked on both of these problems today and I also moved up a pole.

I am now on a 13' 150 lb Pacer FX gripping at 12' even. At practice today I was blowing through the 140 even after I moved my grip up to 12'6" (right under the weight sticker). I will try to get some video of me on this pole at my next meet this Saturday.

Here is the video:

Thanks for the help,

What i think you should do to help get more inverted is put a bar or bungee at a ridicules height and try to kick it, this has helped me alot. hope this helps

Keep working on that takeoff. You could still be taller and stretched up at takeoff. The better you get the takeoff, the easier the swing will be.

You also need to keep that trail leg straight, especially through the first part of the swing. You are tucking your legs into a ball right off the ground.

I agree.. you need a better trail leg
Your trail leg will be a lot easier with a better plant.... you're biggest problem with your plant is that your bottom arm is collapsed... because it collapses it causes your top arm to be pushed back behind your head...
what helped me with my plant was doing slide box drills (if you don't have one... make one)
just keep working hard... with a better plant everything else will imrpove
good luck
