Well it depends a lot on the school... which schools are you thinking about?

I am at a DII and so far it seems pretty cool. They will buy us poles if we need them, they are trying to get a new pit and other stuff. They do although have a screening of athletes, which is pretty dumb. For every member field, distance, sprints where ever you have to do the same tests. 30m run, toss a shot put over you head, a 600m run (stupid for sprinters, and vaulters), standing LJ, standing TJ and others. The coaches seem pretty cool, but I will keep you informed.
The school itslef is semi easy to get into but if you want more info just ask.
ahh San Diego: women, sun , beaches, pole vault, what else do you need.

i am at a d3 school and love it. im not sure what you mean by what it takes to get into these schools. i guess academically it would depend on the school. as far as vaulting we had a guy vault on my team who never did track before he came to college. my school has pretty good vaulters for a d3 school. dont think that you have to be a d1 athlete to jump against good competition. many d3 schools go to several meets where there is top d1 competition.

It's going to vary widely depending on what school... some schools are very hard to get in. Some schools you could get in with very little. Remember there are NCAA minimums to make, and you have to get your high school courses approved through Clearinghouse if you want to compete in college.

For mine I have no idea about the sat score thing, I came from a city college. When I was in high school Sats were given on Saturday morning and the room was very cold and I was sleepy. Needless to say I didnt do so well and went the city college route, saved some money but lost out on some serious compeition I guess. (But back then I was really bad, REALLY bad)

dont limit yourself. find out which schools you are interested in and then find out what standards those schools have. remember, the fact that you are wanting to participate in something at a school helps your chances of getting in.
