When Joe Dials first BAby was born I super imposed a Pole in his hands and sent a photo congrats back to the famly for their new born Pole Vaulter.
MY son did Pole Vault on to the Sofa at age 3 and I believe Rick Attig's son did to at that age.

I've seen video of Drew Bell vaulting onto the sofa when he was tiny. He had a good takeoff too! It was adorable :)

I started 47 years ago at the age of 7. After seeing one of the high schoolers jumping, I went home and took a bamboo fishing pole and placed it on two peach crates. With a 1/2 inch conduit pole with a bend at the top (left over piece from one of my Dad's projects, it looked like a shepards staff) I kept trying until I made it. I think I made 3 feet that year. Back then 6 feet was the magic number and I didn't make that until I was in 4th grade. Later....Mike
